England 2-0 up in Ashes

11:12 am on 22 July 2013

England have completed a crushing 347-run win over Australia with a day to spare, in the second Ashes cricket test to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Set 583 to win and level the series at 1-1, Australia succumbed for 235 in their second innings with four balls remaining on the fourth day.

The England off-spinner Graeme Swann was again the pick of the bowlers, taking four for 78 to give him nine wickets for the match.

But it was young opening batsman Joe Root who was named man of the match after making 180 and dismissing Australia's leading scorers captain Michael Clarke and Usman Khawaja, the part-time bowler recording figures of two for nine and three maidens in his seven overs.

The third test is at Old Trafford in Manchester next week.
