Weepu coming home

6:10 am on 2 July 2013

The Blues halfback Piri Weepu is on his way back to New Zealand after failing to recover from a rib injury suffered in their Super Rugby loss to the Sharks in Durban.

The Blues doctor Stephen Kara believed it was highly unlikely his injury would settle prior to the game against the Cheetahs this weekend so a decision had to be made.

Weepu joins Chris Noakes on the flight home, after the first five suffered a thigh strain in the same match.

Wayne Ngaluafe, who debuted for the Blues against France last month, will fly out this morning as a replacement.
