Poland is assured of a rare men's semi-finalist at Wimbledon with the 24th seed Jerzy Janowicz and unseeded Lukasz Kubot having booked an all-Polish showdown in the quarter-finals.

22 year old Janowicz is through to his first grand slam quarter-final, while Kubot is the lowest ranked player left in the men's draw at 130th in the world rankings.

The last Pole to reach the quarter-finals was Wojtek Fibak in 1980.

With Rafael Nadal among the early casualties, the 4th seed David Ferrer and unseeded Fernando Verdasco have kept Spanish hopes alive.
