Under 20 NZ side thump Uruguay

The New Zealand under-20 rugby team has thrashed Uruguay 75-0 in their opening game of the IRB world tournament in Nagoya in Japan.

In the other Pool A match, Ireland beat Argentina 16-9.

In Pool B Samoa beat Scotland 17-14, thanks to a drop goal with the last kick of the game from Samoa substitute Winston Wilson.

Samoa came from 14-7 down midway through the second half to snatch the dramatic win.

In the other Pool B game, England thrashed the hosts Japan 43-0.

France easily dealt with Italy 43-13 in Pool C and South Africa beat Fiji 36-10.

In Pool D Australia gave Canada a good old fashioned hiding, 86-0 while Tonga got the same from Wales, going down 51-5.

The Junior World Championship will enjoy record broadcast coverage for an age grade rugby tournament, the International Rugby Board says, with 16 broadcasters transmitting live coverage to 135 countries with a global potential reach of nearly 300 million homes.
