The Hurricanes have a home semi-final in sight after thrashing the Blues 45-27 in their Super 14 rugby match in Wellington on Friday.

The Hurricanes remain top of the table and can't be toppled this weekend following their six tries to four victory, which has all but ended the Blues' semi-final hopes.

The Blues did score the bonus point for four tries, but must now rely on other results to make the play-offs.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders have kept their hopes of defending their title alive with a 32-20 win over the Lions in Johannesburg.

The champions did all they needed to, scoring a bonus point with four tries.

In Bloemfontein, the New South Wales Waratahs stayed in the hunt with an 18-10 win over the Cheetahs of South Africa.
