Former world tennis number one Kim Clijsters has confirmed she's coming out of retirement and will be returning to the WTA tour in time for the US hardcourt season later this year.
Clijsters says she was sick of the travelling, sick of being in the spotlight and especially sick of all the injuries ravaging her body when she quit tennis two years ago aged just 23.
Now the Belgian has been lured back on to the courts, unable to resist the temptation of testing her craft at the highest level again after immersing herself in domesticity for two years, getting married and having a baby.
Clijsters says she has been back training for 12 weeks and intends to rejoin the WTA in August.
Her return has been welcomed by Serena Williams who says Clijsters is a gereat player and a nice person.
Clijsters is the daughter of former soccer international Leo Clijsters and top Belgian gymnast Els.
