The leading southern hemisphere nations are considering the possibility of Argentina joining the Tri-Nations.
The Pumas are ranked fourth in the world and have been seeking entry to an annual top-flight competition.
And Sanzar, the umbrella body for the Tri-Nations teams, has now formed a working party to look at the situation.
NZRU chief executive Steve Tew, who has been at the SANZAR meetings in Dubai, says there is still a lot of work to be done but he believes the best option is for Argentina to be in the Tri-Nations....
The other option for Argentina is to play in the Six Nations with the majority of their top players playing in Europe.
