Breakers defence sets up record win in ANBL quarter-final

10:18 am on 20 February 2009

The New Zealand Breakers added to an already historic season with a record score in beating the Adelaide 36ers 131-101 last night to reach the Australian National Basketball League semi-finals for the first time.

Coach Andrej Lemanis says he wasn't too worried when his side's three point shooting fell away in the second quarter and Adelaide closed to within one point.

He says the capacity crowd was a big help, but he could feel the tension building in the North Shore event centre as more and more shots missed the target.

Their best-of-three semi-final series starts in Melbourne on Wednesday night against the defending champion Tigers.
