The Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has signed on with A-League new comers the North Queensland Fury as its inaugural marquee player.

The signing of the former England international, known by Liverpool fans as God, is arguably the biggest coup in A-League history.

Fury Chairman Don Matheson says it has taken a lot of work to make this happen, but he believes it has been worth it because he really believe having Fowler playing for North Queensland will change the way people think about the A-League.

Fowler scored 183 goals in 265 appearances with Liverpool, but also had stints with Leeds, Manchester City, Cardiff and most recently Blackburn.

He scored seven goals in 27 appearances for England.
