Jesse Ryder will remain with the New Zealand cricket team in Australia, with the prospect he may be fit again in time for the second one-dayer against Australia in Melbourne next Friday.

An MRI scan showed no significant injury other than swelling in Ryder's left shoulder which was causing pain and restricting movement.

Ryder has received an injection to relieve the swelling and pain and the injury is expected to take a week to settle.

The New Zealand manager Lindsay Crocker says a final decision won't be made unitl next week, but all going well Ryder should be available for the Melbourne match.
