Ferns go down to Korea Republic in China

5:49 am on 14 January 2009

The Football Ferns have lost 4-3 to the Korea Republic in a four nations tournament in China.

17-year-old substiture Hannah Wall scored two late goals for the Ferns.

Coach John Herdman says all night they thought they would win and the players kept playing until the bitter end.

He says defensive errors they're making are uncharacteristic of this team, although the flipside is that they're probably the easiest thing to work on.

New Zealand finish their Four Nations campaign on Wednesday night against Finland, who lost to China in the other game.
