Erakovic back in action today

10:22 am on 12 January 2009

The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic will square off against the world number 24

Jie Zheng at the Hobart International this afternoon.

Jie is the tournament's fourth seed.

Erakovic will be looking to gain some much needed form before the Australian Open later this month.

Meanwhile Switzerland's Patty Schnyder was handed a code violation for unsportsmanlike behaviour at the tournament during her 6-2 6-4 first round loss to Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova yesterday.

Second seed Schnyder was given the violation after arguing with the chair umpire when a line call went against her late in the second set.

It was one of several clashes with Kerrilyn Kramer.

Schnyder, a veteran and player's representative for the Australian Open lead-up event in Hobart, pointedly avoided shaking Kramer's hand before complaining to reporters about the officiating and a slow court.
