Dementieva taking nothing for granted in ASB Classic quarterfinal

9:07 am on 8 January 2009

Top seed Elena Dementieva of Russia is taking nothing for granted in regard to today's ASB Classic quarterfinal match with Israeli fifth seed Shahar Peer in Auckland.

They have played each other five times, Dementieva winning all of these except their first meeting at the 2006 French Open.

Dementieva says Peer is always tough and you never know how it's going to be against her.

Meanwhile second seed Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark will meet Elena Vesnina of Russia who

is debuting at the Classic.

The 22-year-old Vesnina has faced Wozniacki only once, losing 5-7 1-6 on Sockholm's hardcourt in 2007.

Pairs of unseeded players will meet in two of the quarters.

In the first Romanian Edina Gallovits will take on Aravane Rezai of France while top British player Anne Keothavong will clash with Japanese qualifier Ayumi Morita.

Five seeds fell on Wednesday.
