A Dan Carter master class has secured the Crusaders a 40-12 victory over the Highlanders in Dunedin.
Carter kicked eight from eight, scored a try and set up another as the Crusaders ran in four tries in total for the bonus point win.
The Highlanders' All Black Ben Smith scored the opening try after centre Tamati Ellision threw an astonishing pass behind his back to send Smith over.
Wing Hosea Gear scored the Highlanders' other try in his 100th Super Rugby game.
The home side was reduced to 14 men in the second half after Ma'a Nonu was red carded for a tip tackle on Tom Marshall.
Nonu has also been issued with an off-field yellow card for a dangerous tackle on his All Blacks team-mate, Dan Carter who scored 25 points.
Carter says he was frustrated with his performance last week in the All Blacks' win over France and that he wanted to play well in his first game under the roof at Dunedin's stadium.
The Highlanders captain Andrew Hore says the score line isn't a true reflection of the hard fought local derby.
The Crusaders have moved up into fifth place and have a chance of climbing above the Chiefs to win the New Zealand conference.
