The New Zealand shot-putter Valerie Adams threw a good series of throws to win her event at the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting in the Czech Republic.

The World and Olympic champion opened with 20.15 metres, before improving her own world-leading mark three times - first with 20.55 in round two, then 20.64 in round four, before ending with 20.88 on her final attempt.

It is the seventh-best throw of her career and the best mark witnessed in Ostrava since 1984.
