The English golfer Justin Rose has won his first major title, with a two-shot US Open victory over American Phil Mickleson and Australian Jason Day at Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania.
Rose shot an even-par final-round of 70 to finish at one-over for the championship.
For 43-year-old Mickelson, it was another US Open heartbreak as he finished runner-up for a record sixth time.
He went into the final hole a shot behind Rose, needing a birdie to force a playoff.
However he finished with a bogie and having to share second place.
Rose is the first Englishman to win the US Open since Tony Jacklin 43 years ago and the first to win a major title since Nick Faldo 17 years ago at the Masters.
