NBA basketball superstar Kobe Bryant's legal battle with his mother over a memorabilia auction has been settled out of court.

Bryant's mother has apologised with less than 10 percent of the items originally intended for sale to be auctioned.

In court papers, Bryant contradicted his mother's claim that he told her he didn't want the items and that she could dispose of them as she pleased.

Two of Kobe Bryant's high school uniforms and two rings from the 2000 Lakers championship team are among the items set for auction.
