Scotland appoint New Zealand coach

The Scottish Rugby Union has named New Zealander Vern Cotter as their next national coach.

Cotter, who'd announced that he'll be leaving the leading French club Clermont after one more season, will take over from the Australian Scott Johnson as Scotland's national head coach.

The Scottish Union's chief executive, Mark Dodson, says they've signed Cotter for two years which will take them up to and beyond the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

They'd come to an agreement with Cotter several months ago, but delayed the announcement out of respect for his current employers.

The 51-year-old will take over from June 2014 for Scotland's summer tour.
