The New Zealand pace bowler Tim Southee has been rested for the remainder of the four-day match against the England A side in Leicester due to a foot injury.
Southee will see a specialist to assess the injury and the Blackcaps coach Mike Hesson is confident the 24-year-old will be fit and available for selection for the first Test starting at Lord's on Thursday.
At the end of a rain reduced day three, the England Lions finished 315 for 4, leading New Zealand by 30 runs.
Joe Root's on 143 not out.
