The Chiefs may have to line up against suspended Australian rugby star Kurtley Beale when they take on the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday night.
The 24-year-old utility back has missed six matches since breaking his hand last month and copped an indefinite suspension for punching two team-mates on tour in South Africa.
Beale has been undergoing counselling in Sydney for alcohol-related issues, but the Rebels coach Damien Hill says he could return to training this week.
Hill says the Rebels face a tough ask against the champion Chiefs with only five days to prepare for the match after their narrow loss to the Crusaders in Christchurch yesterday.
