The Central Pulse managed their first trans-Tasman netball league win over Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic in six years with a gritty 53-52 victory at Porirua's Te Rauparaha Arena.
The Pulse are now sixth on the ANZ Championship ladder, level with the fourth-placed Magic on points but behind on goal difference.
Australian shooter Caitlin Thwaites was named Most Valuable Player after her 32 shots from 37 attempts, but the former Silver Fern Donna Wilkins was even more accurate for the Pulse with 21 from 23 for 91 percent.
Magic goal-shoot Irene Van Dyk actually shot a hundred percent but it was her younger team-mate Ellen Halpenny's 23 from 29 which ultimately cost the visitors.
