Steve Rapira's NRL season ended by injury

The Warriors have lost their forward Steve Rapira for the season after he ruptured the ACL in his right knee playing for their feeder team the Auckland Vulcans.

Rapira will have surgery following an MRI scan this week for the injury, suffered in the Vulcans' New South Wales Cup match against the Mounties last weekend.

The younger of the club's Rapira brothers is no stranger to injuries - he was in the playing squad for each of the Warriors' first three matches of the National Rugby League season but lasted only four minutes against the Cronulla Sharks before being forced off with an ugly ear wound that required plastic surgery.

Rapira joins front rower Sione Lousi in having his season ended by an ACL injury, while Warriors utility Sio Siua Taukeiaho was also injured playing for the Vulcans and will be out for six to eight weeks with a leg fracture.
