Defending champion Michael Hendry is one shot off the lead at the New Zealand PGA Championship heading into the final day at The Hills, near Queenstown.

Australia's Rohan Blizard is on top at 15 under par after a sizzling six under 66, while Hendry shot a 68 for 14 under and outright second.

The 33-year-old Aucklander had tied for the lead but Blizard seized it back thanks to a birdie on the 17th hole.

Another local golfer, Gareth Paddison, is four shots back from Blizard in a two-way share of fifth.

The veteran Greg Turner is the next-best New Zealander, another shot back in a seven-way share of seventh.
