The Mumbai Indians cricket coach John Wright has named former Australia captain Ricky Ponting as their captain for the sixth edition of IPL, which starts in just over a month.
Ponting, who retired from international cricket at the end of 2012, was bought at the base price of 450 thousand dollars during the player auction earlier this month.
Mumbai have decided on Ponting rather than reappointing Sachin Tendulkar as leader.
