Ko cherishes NZ Open

Turning professional should be a seamless transition for the rarely talented New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko, who as a 15 year old amateur has already won professional tournaments in three countries, two of them national open championships.

Ko, who picked up the New South Wales and Canadian Open titles last year, says winning the New Zealand Open yesterday in Christchurch takes the cake.

Ko held her nerve to hole the wining putt, finishing the three-round tournament 10 under par, one stroke ahead of the American professional Amelia Lewis, and this week she's in Canberra for the Australian Open.
