Ponting and Clarke fetch top dollar

The former Australia cricket captain Ricky Ponting has put fulltime retirement on hold to join the Indian Premier League acution.

The former Australian skipper, who retired from international cricket in November, has attracted the highest reserve price of $US400,000 of the 101 nominated players.

Current Australia captain Michael Clarke is the only other player with a top reserve price for Sunday's auction.

Ponting, who's 38, played the Kolkota Knight Riders in the IPL in 2008.
