The veteran New Zealand bowler Rowan Brassey has won the men's national fours title for the seventh time.
Brassey skipped a composite team to a narrow win over Andrew Kelly's composite side 19-18 in the final at the Paritutu club in New Plymouth.
Brassey won his first fours title in 1981 and his most recent success had been in 2003.
In the women's competition the local Paritutu four skipped by Heather Johns beat the highly-favoured Sandra Keith team from Dunsandel, in Canterbury, 18-7.
The first four ends went to the visitors to give them a six-nil lead but the Paritutu four went on to win every other end of the 17 played, except one.
