Oram gives up NZ cricket contract

5:17 am on 23 December 2012

Jacob Oram's international cricket career is over.

Oram and New Zealand Cricket have mutually agreed to an early release from his contract.

The 34-year-old has reflected on his playing future and Oram believes he can no longer commit to focusing full-time on playing for New Zealand and the various obligations and demands that go with having a NZC playing agreement.

Oram plans to keep playing professional T20 cricket for Central Districts and intends to be involved in other competitions around the world.

Oram will no longer be a full-time NZC contracted player but that doesn't prevent him from playing for New Zealand in the future.

The all-rounders career has been blighted by injury.
