Former Warriors coach says he'll be under greater scrutiny in new role

The former Warriors rugby league coach Daniel Anderson says he expects to be under greater scrutiny in his new role as NRL referees' manager than when he was a first-grade coach.

Anderson says he's under no illusions as to how tough his role as referees' elite performance manager will be after a season punctuated by officiating blunders.

The former Warriors, St Helens and Parramatta coach says he's intent on improving communication between the refereeing ranks and NRL coaches, something that was heavily criticised under the reign of his predecessors Bill Harrigan and Stuart Raper.

Anderson feels he'll be under more scrutiny than in his time as a coach, but doesn't believe there'll be same week to week pressure.

Anderson says the controversial benefit-of-the-doubt rule and the possibility of a coach or captain's challenge similar to those used in cricket and tennis are among the first things he'll be looking at.
