Lemanis has more competition for Boomers role

The New Zealand Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis, who's indicated he would like to take on the Australian men's basketball side, has some more competition in the form of a great coaching rival.

The Boomers are on the lookout for a new coach after Brett Brown quit his post earlier this week, citing family reasons.

Rob Beveridge, the coach of the Perth Wildcats, has confirmed he will throw his hat into the ring and hopes his success with the Wildcats will boost his chances.

Beveridge was in his first season with the Wildcats when he led them to the championship in 2010, while Perth was only narrowly pipped to the title last season by the Breakers in an epic three-game grand final series.

Others in line for the job include Adelaide 36ers coach Marty Clarke and former Boomers coach Brian Goorjian.
