Bond joins Black Caps coaching ranks

The former Black Caps fast bowler Shane Bond has been appointed as the New Zealand cricket team's new bowling coach.

He replaces Australian Damien Wright and his first task with the team will be the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, which starts later this month.

Bond, who took 87 test wickets and played his last test three years ago, has had coaching roles with Central Districts, the New Zealand women's team and national age grade sides.

He says his new role is something he's been working towards since his retirement from playing.
