Docherty doesn't like his chances

7:50 am on 19 October 2012

Bevan Docherty is coy about his chances of repeating Kris Gemmell's success at last year's World Cup meet in Auckland, when Gemmell and fellow New Zealander Andrea Hewitt swept the twin, events.

This weekend's event is the World Series grand final with Andrea Hewitt the only New Zealander in with a chance of the title.

Docherty, and Olympic silver and bronze medalist, says his chances depend on the weather as he doubts he has the speed to catch the series leaders on the final run leg unless there's carnage because of the weather.

Some rain is forecast for the weekend with the women's elite race tomorrow and the men's race on Sunday.
