Gibson resigns from Crusaders

Crusaders assistant coach Daryl Gibson has resigned from the Super Rugby franchise, unhappy with the new role he had been given.

Last month the Crusaders announced a change to their coaching structure with Gibson offered a defensive role, while an attack coach to be confirmed.

Gibson says he's taken some time to assess his situation and has come to the conclusion that the new new position is not where his immediate future lies.

He says after four years it's now time for him to forge his own path.

He says in the immediate future he's looking forward to being involved with the Maori All Blacks tour to the UK in November.

Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder says with Gibson's resignation they'll now reconsider the shape of those two coaching roles and some variations may result depending on the specific strengths of the candidates considered for the positions.
