Kirwan says Nonu decision exposes flaw in contracting

The Blues coach Sir John Kirwan has fired a shot at the Super Rugby contracting process after Ma'a Nonu assured him he'd be playing for the Blues next year before the All Black midfielder announced on Tuesday that he'll be playing for the Highlanders in 2013.

Nonu says he'll be signing with the Highlanders once a few final details have been worked out in the next few days.

Kirwan says Nonu's last minute change of heart has left the Blues in the lurch but under the current contracting system there's nothing he can do about it.

Meanwhile Nonu was evasive when asked about his contractual arrangements with the Blues, saying that his manager deals with all of those details.

The All Blacks prop Tony Woodcock has already announced he's also moving the Highlanders from the Blues.
