Capello goes in to bat for Terry in FA racism hearing

The former England football manager Fabio Capello was willing to testify on John Terry's behalf at the defender's Football Association hearing, though he provided a statement instead of flying in from Italy.

The BBC reports that Capello's statement, in which he replied to questioning over whether he thought it normal that a player who had gone through a criminal trial, as Terry did over the racism abuse charge he faces, would then be subjected to an FA charge over the same incident.

It seems this was an attempt or part of an attempt to have Terry's charges dismissed, though it appears it was unsuccessful as the hearing has continued into its third day.
