Coach says win crucial for Diamonds confidence

The Australia netball coach Lisa Alexander says avoiding a Constellation Cup clean-sweep was vital for the team's morale ahead of next month's Quad Series.

The Diamonds beat the Silver Ferns 59-53 in the third and final test in Christchurch to avert a series whitewash after New Zealand won the first two tests in Melbourne and Auckland.

Joint hosts Australia and New Zealand will be joined by South Africa, England and Jamaica for the upcoming five nation tournament and Alexander says last night's victory was a timely boost for the Diamonds confidence.

The Quad Series starts on with a double header in Adelaide on October the 14th, with Australia taking on England before the Silver Ferns play South Africa.
