Ferns midcourt spots still up for grabs

11:34 am on 19 September 2012

The New Zealand netball coach Waimarama Taumaunu says midcourt spots are still up for grabs despite an assured performance from the three central players in the first test win over Australia in Melbourne.

The new combination of centre Laura Langman, wing attack Camilla Lees and wing defence Anna Harrison were targeted by the Diamonds but came through the test with flying colours.

Harrison, a converted defender, was somewhat of a surprise selection but stamped her mark on the wing defence position and is likely to be named to start again in Thursday night's second test in Auckland.

However Taumaunu says Harrison's coming under pressure from Kayla Cullen.

It appears unlikely that captain Casey Williams will be over her knee injury in time for the Vector Arena match.

The Silver Ferns have a one-nil lead in the Constellation Cup after winning the first match in Melbourne and can wrap up the three test series with another victory.
