Taranaki's fourth straight win also puts them top of the table.
First five James Marshall scored the hosts' first try eight minutes before half-time then flanker Scott Waldrom sealed the win with a late try.
Taranaki potentially face two more Shield challenges this season, against Manawatu and Waikato.
