World number one Rory McIlroy came from three shots behind to win the second US PGA Tour playoffs event in Boston, holding off fellow major champions Louis Oosthuizen and Tiger Woods.

McIlroy fired a closing four-under-par 67 on Monday to triumph at 20-under 264, one shot clear of Oosthuizen and two ahead of Woods, claiming his third win of the year.

McIlroy netted a healthy paycheque for the win, but he's still some way behind Woods in terms of career money earned.

The American former world number one finished third in Boston, making history by becoming the first golfer to make more than $125 million in earnings on the PGA Tour.
