The New Zealand men's footballers are expecting another tough game against New Caledonia as they begin the next stage of World Cup qualifying.

The All Whites will compete with New Caledonia on Friday night - the team who bundled them out of the Oceania Nations Cup - the Solomon Islands and Tahiti in a league format with the overall winner progressing to play the fourth place team out of Central America in the final stage of qualifying.

One of the longest serving All Whites players Ivan Vicelich says the Pacific Island nations can be a difficult place to go and win games.

All Whites coach Ricki Herbert has picked a full strength squad including Premier League stars Winston Reid and Ryan Nelsen and will go into the qualifying tournament as favourites.
