World records tumble on opening night of Cycling World Champs

Four world records were broken on the opening night of the Junior World Track Cycling Championships in Invercargill, with New Zealand riders picking up three silver medals.

Leading the way were Russia, who broke the world record in qualifying in the women's team sprint and lowered it again in beating New Zealand in the final.

The Australian women broke the world record in beating New Zealand in the women's team pursuit final.

Australia also broke a world record in the men's team sprint final.

Australia won the men's team pursuit final from New Zealand.
