China's former Olympic hurdling champion Liu Xiang wants to return to competition after crashing out of the 110 metres heats at the London Games last week with an Achilles tendon injury.

Liu has returned to China after surgery in London, and he says he's looking forward to jogging in about two months.

The 2004 Olympic champion's dreams were left in tatters for the second successive Games, having had to withdraw before the start of his competition at home in Beijing four years ago, also because of an Achilles injury.

His coach says his return to competition depends on the how well he recovers.
