Kewell, Cahill left out of Socceroos squad

Two of Australia's most experienced goal-scorers - Harry Kewell and Tim Cahill - have been left out of the 20-man national squad for next Wednesday's football friendly against Scotland in Edinburgh.

The omission of Cahill, who recently transferred from English Premier League club Everton to the New York Red Bulls, is no surprise, with the midfielder making himself unavailable while he looks to settle into life at his new club.

Kewell on the other hand, who is yet to sign a new club deal after cutting ties with A-League side Melbourne Victory and returning to England, was passed over.

Lucas Neill will captain the Socceroos for the 50th time.

The Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson is the A-League's sole representative in the squad.
