Oly-Whites disappointed with first up effort

The New Zealand men's football team has been left disappointed with their effort following a 1-nil loss to Belarus in their opening Olympic match in Coventry.

The Oly Whites had the better of the first period but conceded a goal on the stroke of halftime when the New Zealand goalie Michael O'Keefe failed to clear the ball from a corner and it was headed home.

Striker Shane Smeltz says that was the turning of the match and says at this level they can't afford to concede goals like that.

New Zealand's second pool game is against Egypt on Sunday evening, they lost 3-2 to Brazil this morning.

In another match hosts Great Britain were held 1-all by Senegal.
