Mannering ruled out for Warriors next match

6:19 am on 25 July 2012

The Warriors captain Simon Mannering will miss his first NRL match in more than two years after being ruled out of Saturday's clash with Manly in Perth.

Mannering injured his right ankle late in last weekend's 24-19 loss to Newcastle at Mount Smart Stadium.

Medical staff are optimistic the 164-game veteran will return for next week's encounter with Cronulla at Mount Smart.

Returning winger Manu Vatuvei will captain the side for the first time in Mannering's absence.

Lewis Brown moves off the bench to start at centre with Ben Henry named in the second row after being used as a centre in all 18 matches so far this season.

Forward Sam Lousi will make his second appearance on Saturday.

Back rower Sebastine Ikahihifo will make his Warriors debut.

Mannering will miss his first NRL match since the 10th-round clash against North Queensland in May, 2010.
