Blincoe out of London

The New Zealand 5000 metre runner Adrian Blincoe has withdrawn from the New Zealand Olympic team because of injury.

Blincoe, together with this support team, made the decision to withdraw after an injury to his ankle.

The full extent of the injury is as yet unconfirmed and he's to get further medical advice and treatment in the US, where he is based.

Blincoe says he's been dealing with an ankle injury for the past four weeks and it's greatly impacted his his training and pre-Games racing schedule.
