The New Zealand Warriors have secured talented centre Konrad Hurrell, until the end of rugby league's NRL 2015 season.

The 20-year-old Tongan, halfway through only his second season in league, has been one of the NRL's top rookies.

It follows a dazzling introduction to rugby league from schoolboy rugby union last season when he helped the Junior Warriors to a second straight NYC premiership.

While disappointed a foot injury kept him out of Friday night's 19th-round battle with the Brisbane Broncos, the ex-Auckland Grammar School First XV star says he's ecstatic about his long-term future with the Warriors.

In last night's NRL results the Newcastle Knights thumped Manly 32-6, North Queensland beat the Melbourne Storm 20-16, and Wests Tigers beat the Penrith Panthers 26-18.
