The New Zealand cyclist Greg Henderson says the London Olympic road course is ideally suited for him and feels he should be one of those selected.

35-year-old Henderson is set to be the only New Zealander in the Tour de France, which starts next week and has been targeted by Bike NZ as a race that will help in selection for the games.

Henderson, a former track world champion and who is the sprint set-up man with his Belgian Lotto team, says he'll be in great shape after the Tour and ready for what will be the perfect course for him in London.

Hayden Roulston, Julian Dean and Jack Bauer are among the other contenders for the two New Zealand spots in the London road race.
