Kookaburras get one of their early Olympic starts changed

The Australian men's hockey team has been successful in its bid to have one of its early matches at the Olympics rescheduled.

The Kookaburras had been facing three 5am wake-up calls for early morning fixtures but following a protest spearheaded by coach Ric Charlesworth they will now play Pakistan on August 7th at 10:45am, instead of 8:30am.

Charlesworth had publicly protested when the draw was released in May, arguing that the word champions were disadvantaged by having three pool matches stating in the earliest time slot.

The New Zealand men will also have two early starts in pool play.
