Beale back for Wallabies

5:42 pm on 19 June 2012

The Australia rugby fullback Kurtley Beale will start for the Wallabies in his test return against Wales in Sydney on Saturday, despite having an assault charge hanging over his head.

Beale makes his comeback from a shoulder injury for the first time since the bronze medal playoff against Wales at last year's World Cup.

He slots straight in at the back for the dead rubber, with the three-match series already wrapped up, while Adam Ashley-Cooper moves to the wing.

Beale's been charged with common assault for his role in a nightclub incident in Brisbane on the Thursday night preceding the first test against Wales.

Former North Harbour player Mike Harris's reward for his matchwinning heroics off the bench in game two, when he kicked the winning penalty at the death, is to be dropped entirely.

New South Wales Waratahs lock Sitaleki Timani is recalled with Rob Simmons moving back to the bench.

Wallabies: Kurtley Beale, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Rob Horne, Pat McCabe, Digby Ioane, Berrick Barnes, Will Genia, Wycliff Palu, David Pocock (capt), Scott Higginbotham, Nathan Sharpe, Sitaleki Timani, Sekope Kepu, Tatafu Polota Nau, Benn Robinson. Res: Stephen Moore, Ben Alexander, Rob Simmons, Dave Dennis, Michael Hooper, Nic White, Anthony Faingaa.
